The series of Christmas Biophysics Workshops was initiated by Rudolf Podgornik (Ljubljana) and Silvia Tomić (Zagreb) in 2006. These annual scientific gatherings join scientists working in the field of biophysics and soft matter from Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria. The meetings are kept rather informal and serve as a place to present and discuss most recent results and possibly expand collaborations. The core social event is usually the dinner where contacts, research plans and friendships are established or maintained.
