"Hi! I got a new PC, it has 300 MHz. Your 3-year old Power Challenge has only 75 MHz. I should be much faster now."

"OK. It's true it's three years old. The P.C. has a 4-way pipeline, so 300 MFlops, which is exactly what your PC has. But P.C. can sustain 80% of that speed, while your PC can only sustain some 30%. My P.C. has 2 GB memory and a SMP programming model. Try stuffing a 1GB code into your PC."
